C
Close. Fixable in mastering.
Three things to know before we master
  • Vocal sits 2 dB under the beat in the hook
  • Harsh "s" sounds around 7 kHz
  • Low end is mono-safe, no phase issues
  • No clipping or true-peak overs

Next: master with corrective moves, then compare before and after at matched loudness.

How it works

No master can fix a bad mix, so every song gets checked before it gets finished.

  1. 1

    Upload your mix

Drop in a stereo mix or your stems. Pick the platforms you're releasing on, and name up to three artists and three reference songs whose sound you're chasing.

  2. 2

    Get your grade

An A to F grade in under a minute, with a plain-words fix list: tonal balance, vocal level, masking, low end, clipping, dynamics, stereo width and noise.

  3. 3

    Master or remix

Good mixes go straight to mastering. Weak ones get an offer to redo the mix first, from your stems or from a split of your stereo file.

  4. 4

    Compare and release

A/B the original, the remix and the master at matched loudness, on studio monitors, earbuds or a phone speaker. Export 24-bit WAVs for every platform.

What your grade means

The grade decides what happens next, and you always see why.

AB

Master straight away

Your mix is ready. We master it toward the sound of the artists and references you named.

C

Master with corrective moves

We fix what mastering can fix (dynamic EQ, de-essing, a tighter low end) and show you the before and after.

DF

Redo the mix first

We ask for your original stems. No stems? We split the mix, rebalance it, clean and re-chain the vocal, then master. A remix from a split file can carry artifacts, so we label it and always recommend real stems when you have them.

Mastered toward the sound you hear in your head

Tell us who you're inspired by and the app builds a starting chain, with every choice explained in plain words. Blend the targets the way you want, for example mostly dark and spacious with a little vintage warmth.

"Inspired by" describes a sound target, never a person. We don't clone voices and we don't sell artist-named presets.

  • Streaming-accurate meters. Integrated, short-term and momentary LUFS, loudness range and true peak, measured the way the platforms measure.
  • A limiter built for loud and clean. Transparent, punchy and loud modes, with no inter-sample overs.
  • Named characters, not a wall of knobs. Pick Clean, Warm Tube, Punch or Vocal R&B and fine-tune from there.
  • Album mode. Matches tone and loudness across a whole project.
  • You own everything. Your masters and stems are yours, and always exportable in open formats.

Questions

Who can use it?

Masterwell is for anyone 16 or older. Buyers who are 16 or 17 need a parent's card. Future community features (posting, messaging and groups) will also be 16+, with extra protections for 16 and 17 year olds. LIVE, coins and gifts will be 18+.

Do I own my masters?

Yes. You own your masters and stems, and you can export them in open formats at any time.

Can I upload someone else's song?

Only audio you have the rights to. Reference songs are analyzed for their sound and never stored or shared.

What if my mix gets a D or F?

You can still master it, but we'll recommend redoing the mix first. Upload stems for the best result, or let us split the stereo mix and rebuild it.

Will it work with my DAW?

It runs in your browser and takes files from any DAW. Plugin versions for your DAW come after the web studio launches.

Why are the free masters once per person?

To keep them fair for everyone, we check new sign-ups against earlier ones. Your grade stays free on every upload.
